Home education and PEP have different reporting routes

Florida DOE says PEP students register with a scholarship funding organization (SFO), while home education students register with their district. PEP requires an annual student learning plan submitted to the SFO. The department also distinguishes PEP testing from home education’s annual evaluation options. Confirm the applicable process with the receiving organization before changing registration.

Check FES-UA independently

The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities serves eligible students with disabilities. Florida DOE states that approved SFOs determine eligibility, distribute funding and approve eligible expenditures. Do not assume that a PEP requirement or purchasing decision also applies to FES-UA.

Write down the pathway before the task

Use this optional question list to prepare your conversation. It is not an official eligibility screen.

  • Which program am I enrolled in or applying for?
  • Which organization receives my registration or renewal?
  • Which current plan, assessment or documentation format does it require?
  • Who answers a proposed purchase question before I spend?
  • What written instructions apply if I change pathways?

Use the required format for official submissions

SEH’s free learning-plan worksheet is a general organizer. It is not represented as an SFO-approved student learning plan or a substitute for the specific form your program requires. Likewise, this site does not establish HM membership eligibility for scholarship payment.

Locate program and parent-support contacts

Florida DOE’s FES page lists its administering scholarship organizations. The Parent Center directory offers a separate state-based route for disability-related education support. These external links do not indicate SEH endorsement by those organizations.

Looking for tutoring in this state?

Florida SUFS Tutoring is part of Special Ed Resource, the business behind SEH. Its website describes tutoring services and provides a consultation route. Ask about the specific service, price and payment process, and confirm coverage with your program before booking paid sessions. A tutoring provider’s participation does not establish that Homeschool Momentum membership is an eligible expense.

Official checks before you act

Because homeschool law, special education services, and funding rules vary, verify requirements with your state education department, local district, official ESA or scholarship program, and qualified providers. Keep screenshots or PDFs of official guidance with your records.

Frequently asked questions

Are PEP and home education the same registration?

No. Florida DOE distinguishes SFO registration for PEP from district registration for home education. Consult its linked FAQ before changing your registration.

Can I use the SEH worksheet as my official PEP plan?

Ask your SFO for its required format. SEH has not established that its general worksheet satisfies that requirement.

Does this guide decide whether my purchase is eligible?

No. Contact the administrator of your actual scholarship program about the specific expense.
